FAQs
  • Who can participate?
    • The Brain Innovation Days Pitch Competition is open to everyone. From the entrepreneur, to the researcher, patient, clinician or brain enthusiast with a business plan.

      Some eligibility criteria though:
      • Be a project holder;
      • Have a clear vision and business model;
      • Be active in the brain innovation area.
  • What's in it for you?
    • This is a unique opportunity to provide outstanding visibility to your project. Due to the variety of stakeholders attending the event (policymakers, investors/funders, clinicians, researchers, industry representatives, patients and more), the winners of the Pitch Competition will be exposed to an exciting, wide range of opportunities.

      The winners selected by the public and the jury will receive a free exhibition booth and free access to our physical event to be held in Brussels on October 12 and 13, 2021. The winner selected by the jury will receive an in-depth review of its business plan by investors and experts in Neuroscience; Clinical Research; Regulatory & Intellectual Property; Business Strategy; Finance; and Funding during a one-day workshop. Also, all applicants will receive a one-page analysis of their project description by beLean.net.
  • The journey
    • The Brain Innovation Days Pitch Competition follows a three-stage procedure:

      Stage 1 – Pre-selection
      The pre-selection is based on the video sent through the application form process.
      Experts from beLean.net will review applicants' project description and send them all a one-page analysis in the business, financial and scientific aspects.
      Deadline application is set on November 30, 2020. Some 20 of the best projects will be identified by EBC and beLean.net by December 7, 2020.

      Stage 2 – Assessments
      All first round selected applicants will have to present their project more in details to beLean.net and external experts: their defined problem, solution, market, competition and team. This round will help them strengthen and optimise their business plan and gain intensive pitch training.
      The assessment will be held during lunch break from December 14th to 18th. It will consist of a 10-minute presentation and a 10-minute Q&A. Slides are admitted and highly recommended.
      The 6 most innovative start-ups will be selected and invited to pitch on January 26, 2021.

      Stage 3 – Pitch Competition
      Selected start-ups for the Pitch Competition will compete before a jury of experts and investors.
      Start-ups will have only 3 minutes to pitch their project followed by a 5-minute Q&A with the jury. Be concise and make sure to keep track of time!
      Both the jury and the audience will select one best pitch each.
